Iceblock documentation
Iceblock keeps your files on your own devices: your phone, your computers, a computer that’s always on. Each file is encrypted, split into pieces and spread across them, so losing a device loses nothing, and nobody else, not even whoever runs the website or a relay, can read it.
These pages explain how to use it. Iceblock is in alpha: things change from one release to the next, and these pages change with them.
- Getting started: Installing Iceblock and starting your network
- Your devices: Adding a device, and what each device may do
- Files and Collections: Adding files, folders, Collections, the Timeline and comments
- Sharing: Sharing files with other people, and opening what's shared with you
- Groups: Networks with a standing arrangement: Collections of their own, roles, and storage they lend each other
- How your files are kept: Copies, importance, and storage another network lends you
- A backup drive: A whole copy of your network on a drive of its own, and getting everything back from it
- A server: Iceblock on a computer without a desktop, and the iceblock command
- Your files in other apps: Mounting a Collection as a folder on Linux, and Android's file picker
- When something's wrong: Devices that don't reach each other, working offline, saving the battery
